Our Story

More than just a little shop in rural Maine.

HEIRLOOM HOUSE is a place to meet up with friends, engage with the community, host events, have meetings, and shop for the millions of little things that make life more beautiful/fun/handy/clever/special.

In 2017, shop proprietor, Zoey Bond, was a fairly new Maine resident by way of Texas, New York, and Ohio. Zoey and her family were hard at work transforming another Thorndike, Maine business, McKay Farm and Research Station, into a gardening center destination offering shelves and shelves of local, handmade wares, a mini market of locally produced, certified organic food, and greenhouse tables filled with indoor and outdoor plants.

It was the quickest of conversations within the walls of that greenhouse with longtime Thorndike business owner and champion, Diana Prizio*, that fueled the spark of HEIRLOOM HOUSE. After a few emails and walkthroughs of Diana's former shop, Garden Variety, the idea of HEIRLOOM HOUSE and our new spin on the independent boutique was beginning to bloom.

And bloom it did. We talked to the locals here in Maine. Sought guidance from our mentors. Identified our online shoppers' wants and dove in head first. Sourcing primarily from independent makers, we have curated a collection of goods that truly causes the best of heart flutters.

Locals will enjoy the in-person HEIRLOOM HOUSE shopping experience; from our unique music selection to our free wifi & coffee lounge, we've packed quite an experience into our 900 square foot space.  When you shop with HEIRLOOM HOUSE online you will see the full selection of everything we have to offer and receive the exact same level of service you would if you were standing in front of us. Both experiences always offer free gift wrapping, because a beautiful present is everything. Everything.

Opening day online and brick & mortar: June 2nd, 2017, follow the journey from 'idea' to present day on our blog and become a member of the HEIRLOOM HOUSE squad by hanging out with us on Instagram and Facebook.

*Thank you, Diana, for the gift of this opportunity, your mentorship, and your friendship. The heirloom that you have passed onto us will be forever treasured.
